Getting help for Word

Links checked & revised 12-19-18

Many links to Microsoft info on their site
(They change their site frequently. If any links don't work, let me know or just search their site for what you want.)

http://www.microsoft.com/ Doesn't go into obsolete programs anymore.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us Search the Microsoft Knowledge Base

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/ Search for information on any Microsoft product. For example, try searching for Word 97 in the Search box. While there download & install the beta Spyware program if you don't already have it.

Tutorials

http://www.baycongroup.com/tutorials.htm has some free on-line tutorials for Word, Excel, Windows and others. They really have some nice illustrations. Probably somewhat out of date since they are only up to Windows XP and Word 97.

http://www.nailitnow.com.au/word/free/tocheadings.html Very nice tutorial site. but also out of date.

Lots of help

http://www.dummies.com/ any subject.

http://wordribbon.tips.net good info on any Word subject. 2019 appears to be up to date.

Miscellaneous

Etymology is the study of word origins. I got started by wondering where the phrase "Three sheets to the wind" came from. The answer can be found at (not to be confused with entomology, the study of insects)
http://www.wordorigins.org/
This site has a history of the English language and other interesting information like common errors in etymology. More etymology sites:
Find etymology of first names here

You can find more by searching for "etymology" with any search engine.
http://www.thinkbabynames.com/
has lots of baby names & the meaning.

After a few hours searching the web for this stuff, Iím bushed. Have fun.

Lastly in 2017 there is a better alternative to MSOffice AND IT'S FREE!!
